Money to Make Money?

I don’t like the phrase “It takes money to make money”

If this were the case, no one would ever obtain wealth. Someone who cannot make money without money, probably can’t make money with money either.

When you have money, you simply have a larger variety of money-making avenues to choose from. I’d like to revise the quote to say: “It’s easier to make money with money”

When you are strapped for cash you simply have to be more creative to make your money!

Of course you can start a business without money. I believe Neville already has his own business which was funded relatively cheaply. It’s work and ideas that make money.

Most business require a LITTLE capital to start, but the key to generating wealth is the entrepreneur behind it all.

Still, a business that requires ABSOLUTELY NO CAPITAL is possible.

I started a power washing business with a power washer borrowed from a friend. Startup capital required = $0.00

Just near my apartment in Austin I have seen many small “businesses” founded with little captial. Buy a 24 pack of water for less than $5 and sell them cold on a hot day for $1 each. This may not get you rich, but the person who took $5 and turned it into $24 at least has learned the concept of generating capital.

As for my business that has brought in $500 – $1000 for the last four years….I started it with $200 in birthday money and a bank account I had to get my dad to open for me since I wasn’t 18 yet.

I think the internet has made it entirely possible, for people to start a business with very little money.

Domain names and hosting are cheap and sometimes free!

If you can devote at least 2-3 hours a day, you can make a tidy income.

Very well said. Also, while it takes money to make money, getting loans to start a business is starting with $0 of your own money. In the case of your power washing business, you were loaned the power washer. Keep up the blog, I like reading it everyday. Cheers.

You can use someone else’s money, that’s the power of leverage. We to0k out a equity loan from our house, 5.5% interest, and as long as the return is greater than 5.5%, we are making money for nothing.
Also, reducing your spending is also making money, without costing money.

Even if it does take money, even a small bit to make money, does one need a business license to sell ANYTHING, including selling water on a hot day? Because no one wants to be shut down by the authorities because one didn’t have a license to sell.
