The value you're bringing to the website is you're helping them market their product. Google Adwords gets a positive ROI for them, and you're taking a cut of that ROI. If you hadn't come along, they wouldn't have been on Google Adwords, and therefore lost that incremental income. Now your barrier to entry is really low, which is why people are so quiet about it.

This experiment has been interesting to me. Two things to note/ask:

1) Keep in mind another benefit for this sort of affiliate marketing is credit card rewards. You can setup campaigns where literally you can be spending $10,000+/day for let's say $200/day profit ($10,200 gross). $200/day profit = $73,000/year.

If you look at the overall numbers you spent $3.65 million to bring is $73k for your yearly salary. But that also means you spent $3.65 million on your credit card (most likely for stuff like AdWords campaigns) which equals up to a lot of miles, rewards, or even cash back from your credit card. I do realize this example has inflated numbers, but it gives a better example.

2) For the A/B testing, the thing that always sort of confused me was the multiple page variations when you are using something like Wordpress. Do you literally go into Wordpress and create a "page" that has a different URL or file extension (ex: version2.php) for the "B" scenario? If so, is it the script itself that will pull that into the homepage, or how exactly does this work?
