I was in the "P3" section of the newspapers in Hyderabad (Kind of like the celebrity gossip section) because some of my cousins are socialites who go to all the rich & famous parties. They are always in the papers, so when me and my brother went to all the parties with them, our names got in also!

-Nev

Hi Nev!

Yeah, theres a lot more needed to be done even if we need to catch up with China, let alone the west.

By the way, did you not drop by Bangalore? (the traffic here is MUCH more than that of Hyderabad...)

And yeah, why were you in the newspapers?

Cheers!
Sudeep
Bangalore, India

crsudeep@gmail.com

facinating. in regards to the environment i'm curious if their disregard for the environment is similar to China's in the name of growth. additionally, I wonder how India compares with worker conditions. In China long hours and poor working conditions are the norm. You mentioned the pay for Indian workers being very nice, but did you see how workers were treated in India?? just curious.

--Patrick

I liked your take on India's outlook. I was over there about 18 months ago, down at the southern tip. The infrastructure was the biggest thing that I thought needed to be improved to support the growing econonmy. The roads were brutal. It took us a couple of hours to travel 20 miles outside the city. This is a killer when it comes to fuel costs which is really going to hurt transportation of goods and services across the country. I do believe that a modern highway system is being constructed that runs north/south and east/west along with connecting highways around the border of the country. Things will have to get much more efficient as the economy grows and fuel prices increase. In addition, I did get the feeling that there was a good bit of corruption which must be overcome for the infrastructure to improve. All that being said, the people were great and they place a high value on family and education. It is going to be fun to watch that country grow over the next 50 years. I thought about buying property on the coast in Kerla, but I'm still a little nervous being a foreigner and buying property.

Anyway, I enjoyed your write up.
emooreonline.com
